I wanted to share mine this week…
Beginning the year, I dream
That which begins again, running into
a new year, across a threshold, a dream
in my pocket. I say thank you, thank you,
time, which is both real as roots, and made
up, like this poem. Moon, dark looks on in the sky
gentle guardian of these cycles.
Just a reminder that there's no right way to do this. If you write one, please share it with me (subscribers can comment on this post!), share it on our paid subscriber chat, or post it on Instagram. My handle is @K8belew.
Beginning the kiss
That which I look upon is a pale rose.
Running into the forbidden woods.
Across the bridge to my heart.
A dream of stars colliding.
Thank you for beginning the kiss.
Time stood still & so did I.
Moonbeams dancing at our feet as we entwine.
96. Beginning An Old Beginning
That which we think of as new may not exist. Is
there such a thing as a year to end and begin?
Running into the question of eternal return, the
equation of time plus timelessness minus end.
Across a chasm of differences in thinking so
broad we grasp at winter’s cold of meaning.
A dream comes to tell us of the past - when the
cycle of seasons was not a thing to be counted.
Thank you for illuminating the language of
constriction and the silence of freedom. In
time, a click of digits, it may pass that silence
constricts and language frees us. Hello dark
moon, you who bring the keys to all mysteries,
caught unseen in the oak tree’s arms. Hello.
