Writing with the Summer Solstice

The summer solstice occurs each year between June 19th and June 23rd, when the sun shifts into the cardinal water sign of Cancer in the northern hemisphere. This year, summer begins on June 20th.

This is a time of solar magic. The sun expresses itself fully, rising high in the sky and lingering late into the night, a time of gathering, celebration, and culmination. The summer solstice is a threshold. The energy of summertime is electric. It seems to move like a river does, effortlessly, wild. Now is a time to connect with our inner wilderness and to let it inspire us to create.

During this writing circle:

• We will discuss the summer solstice and the sacred themes and celebrations of this time, especially as they relate to our creativity

• We will be inspired by catalytic ideas, quotes, and passages from Word Witches who have written about the summer solstice

• We will write with two different prompts to create gorgeous and imperfect first drafts in celebration of summer

• We will share if we feel called to with the circle

• We will welcome the coming of summer with our Word Witch wands (pens!)
